Compliance: BENG, Wkb, certification and financing
For quality assurers, legal advisers, financiers and compliance managers — the honest status per topic.
Energy performance (BENG, NTA 8800, MPG)
Does ZTC comply with BENG?
Yes. The Premium wall (Rc > 4.7) sits comfortably above the Dutch requirement. We supply U, Rc and airtightness data for your adviser's NTA 8800 calculation.
NTA 8800 — do you supply the dataset?
We supply the parameters (U, Rc, airtightness, material details) with which your building physicist performs the NTA 8800 calculation. A ready-made NTA dataset is in development.
MPG / Dutch environmental performance score?
Bio-based materials perform considerably better than mineral alternatives. The Premium wall saves indicatively approx. 42 kg CO₂-eq per m² (internal calculations; to be validated per project). Formal EPDs on request or via partner suppliers.
Certification (CE, ETA, KOMO, ISO)
CE marking and ETA?
CE-marked under ETA-21/0014, legally valid throughout the EU. Certificate on request.
KOMO certification?
No, not directly. For projects where the client or assurer explicitly requires KOMO, a Dutch structural engineer completes the local sign-off. We supply all underlying product data.
ISO 9001:2015?
ISO 9001:2015 procedure applied internally; certificate on request.
FSC or PEFC?
Available on request, with certification per project.
Eurocode 5?
All structural calculations in accordance with Eurocode 5; for Dutch projects complemented by a Dutch structural engineer.
Wkb (Dutch Quality Assurance Act)
What changes under the Wkb?
Mandatory since 1 January 2024 for consequence class 1: an independent quality assurer supervises the execution. CE/ETA + a Dutch structural engineer + as-built docs satisfy this in principle.
Which documents does ZTC supply for the assurer?
- CE marking and ETA-21/0014 certificate
- Production photos per project
- Assembly reports and blower-door results
- As-built drawings and certification
- Warranty certificate and handover certificate
Does ZTC have experience with specific quality assurers?
Yes, with several Dutch parties. We are happy to discuss your preferred assurer and make sure the dossier connects seamlessly.
Building Decree / Bbl
Do ZTC build-ups meet the Bbl for fire?
Up to 13 m: WBDBO 30–60 minutes achievable without special measures. 13–30 m: encapsulation or sprinklers. >30 m: sprinklers almost always required. The functional fire-safety requirements of the Bbl are equivalent for timber and traditional building systems.
Do we meet the Bbl for acoustics?
Yes, with the right build-up: DnT,A,k ≥ 52 dB and Lnt,A,k ≤ 54 dB achievable. Specs in Module 2 (Technical).
Do we meet the Bbl for moisture / climate?
Vapour-open build-up with pro clima SOLITEX and a Ubakus calculation to "no condensate". Details in Module 2.
Financing
Do Dutch banks finance timber construction?
Yes. ABN AMRO, Rabobank, ING and BNG now finance timber construction as standard. Required: Bbl + Wkb + KOMO equivalent (via a Dutch engineer) + warranty insurance.
Does NHG accept timber construction?
Yes, provided BENG-compliant + warranty insurance + a regular valuation, within the applicable NHG limit (check the current threshold at nhg.nl).
Which valuers accept timber construction?
NVM- and VBO-certified, plus Calcasa and Brainbay. Regional experience mainly in Overijssel, Gelderland and Flevoland.
Insurance
Which insurance does ZTC itself carry?
Product liability insurance. CAR cover for the Dutch project is arranged per project; often via the main contractor or client.
Which insurers accept timber construction in NL?
Achmea, NN, Allianz, ABN AMRO property insurance. Premiums generally comparable to slightly higher than traditional; to be validated per policy.
Insurance-related risks?
Fire during construction, leakage during assembly, permanent water immersion. Termites are not an issue in NL.
Warranty
Which warranty does ZTC give?
Standard product warranty; an extended 5-year warranty as an option. On the structure — combined with a Dutch warranty insurance such as Woningborg or SWK — cover often runs to approx. 10 years; exact terms depend on the chosen insurer and the project. (Acceptance per warranty insurer is confirmed per project.)
Which warranty insurers work for ZTC?
Woningborg, SWK, BouwGarant and Bouw-NL Garantie. ZTC actively works with partners that have already completed these routes. Specific acceptance per insurer is confirmed per project.
Aftercare and defects after handover?
Theo Rolvink is the first point of contact in the Netherlands. For structural defects the assembly crew travels within 1–2 days for critical issues. Administrative settlement via Woningborg or SWK.
